Autism
Adam Boulanger, Graham Grindlay, and Nick Knouf
Individuals suffering from the autistic spectrum of disorders display a range of symptoms in social interaction, communication, and repetitive patterns of behavior. Prior work in music intervention, although largely unscientific, typically utilizes the social component of music making to encourage meaningful social participation. We propose to do much more then this through innovateic technological development. In addition to improving social behaviors through group music making, we propose to develop a system to quantify the cognitive development of the autistic participants over time, while continuously driving cognitive and social improvement.
